Journey 1 of 10 · 10 steps
Genesis
From one circle to the solids
Follow the compass from a single circle to the Flower of Life, then watch the Platonic solids rise out of Metatron’s Cube.
In the app each step moves: figures draw themselves, rise from the page, turn and slice, and the narration can be read aloud. Here they are held still, one picture each.
-
Step 1 · The Monad
One
Everything begins with a point, and the circle it draws around itself. One compass stroke: unity, the whole.
-
Step 2 · Vesica Piscis
Two
Place the compass on the circle’s edge and draw again. Where the two circles overlap, the vesica piscis is born, and inside it an equilateral triangle: √3 is hiding here.
-
Step 3 · Seed of Life
Seven
Keep stepping around the intersections. After six more circles the Seed of Life appears, six petals around a centre.
-
Step 4 · Flower of Life
The Flower
Continue the pattern outward and it never ends: a hexagonal lattice, the densest way to pack circles. Framed by a great circle, this is the Flower of Life.
-
Step 5 · Fruit of Life
The Fruit
Now choose thirteen circles from the flower so that none overlap. This is the Fruit of Life.
-
Step 6 · Metatron’s Cube
Metatron’s Cube
Join every centre to every other centre: 78 straight lines. Look closely. Among them are flat shadows of solid shapes.
-
Step 7 · Cube
The hidden cube
The outer hexagon with a “Y” inside is exactly what a cube looks like balanced on one corner. Watch it rise out of the page.
-
Step 8 · Star Tetrahedron
The star
The two great triangles are a hexagram, the shadow of two interlocked tetrahedra: the star tetrahedron, or Merkaba.
-
Step 9 · Octahedron
The octahedron
A hexagram inside a hexagon is the octahedron seen face-on. The flat pattern keeps turning out to be space seen from one direction.
-
Step 10 · Egg of Life
The Seed was a shadow
Eight spheres on the corners of a cube. From this angle two hide behind each other, and the rest cast the Seed of Life where we began.
