Torus Yantra
Circles turning around a point
Equal circles, all passing through one centre, rotated evenly around it. As their number grows, a torus appears: a flat view of flow into and out of a single point.
- Every circle
- meets the centre
Watch it drawn with compass and straightedge, hear the chord of its lines, and turn the Dimension dial to raise its form in space.
Facts
- Every circle passes through the centre point, so the centre is where all meet.
- The outer envelope is a circle of twice the radius.
- With 6 circles you get the Seed of Life’s petals. With many it looks like a torus seen from above.
History and meaning
In many modern teachings the torus is the shape of self-sustaining flow: energy moves out from the centre, around, and back in, like a smoke ring or a magnetic field.
Across the dimensions
- Slice of Horn TorusEvery circle is the equator of a sphere through the centre; together they carve a horn torus.
